My first attempt at making baby food

I wanted to see if I could do a decent job at making Bean's food myself.  I was very surprised that it turned out so well.  It was very easy. And trust me, I wouldn't tell you that if it wasn't because I hate to cook most of the time myself.

So far I have made butternut squash (tastes just like Gerber's), green peas (Bean won't eat the Gerber's but she'll eat mine), lima beans (haven't tried this one on her yet), and I have done up some green beans but need to go and puree them.

I baked the butternut squash and then scooped it out and pureed it.  The rest, I bought frozen and cooked them (save the water you cook them in to use to thin out the puree).  I am hoping to get some more fresh veggies this weekend and do them.

I don't have any ice cube trays yet to put the purees in to freeze so I have been using a cookie sheet.  I put down wax paper and then spoon one tablespoon of the purees onto the wax paper at a time and then put the whole thing in the freezer.  After freezing, I pull up the little round circles and put them in a freezer bag and label it.  I label it when to throw out (3 months).  To me that was easier to keep track of.

if you're thinking of trying your hand at making your own baby food, it's very easy and I think you'll find that you can get a batch done in no time.  Good luck.
