The Lollipop Hangover

This past Sunday we went to a niece's birthday party.  Bean had a great time.  She got to put on her bathing suit and run through a sprinkler type blowup.  She got to play in the kiddie pool.  She got to pretend that she ate a good lunch.  It was all a good time.

On our way home we stopped to get gas and while Hubz was doing the manly job of pumping the gas, I turned around to talk to Bean.  This is what I saw.

Asleep in her seat with a lollipop still in her mouth.

As you can see, my first reaction was to take a picture or three.

When I finally stopped laughing and snapping pictures, I reached back to take the lollipop out of her mouth.

She woke up a little.

Look at those eyes!  Does that not look like a hangover face to you?

I started laughing and taking pictures all over again.

She went back to sleep before I could stop enjoying myself.

Kids can give you so much material to work with.

Giving PicMonkey a go

In the past I used Picnik to edit my photos.  Now that their site is shutting down, I need another easy to use site.  I've read on other blogs about PicMonkey but only tried it once and forgot all about it.  Today I decided to give it a whirl again.

They have added a lot more effects to their choices.  All of these pictures were taken on my iPhone and edited some way using Picmonkey.

It's a free site and very easy to use so if you're looking for a replacement for Picnik, give it a try.

Meet Kyndall...that's right.

SHE has arrived!

Yep!

That's right.

Introducing Kyndall...the Kindle.

Ummhmmm.  I did it.  I named her.  AND gave her a girlie name spelling, too!

Isn't she sweet?

She's dressed down for the moment but I'm working on snazzying up her wardrobe.

I attempted a new creation for her last night but it ended in a fail.  But I'm gonna try again tonight.

I really like the Kindle Fire.  It is a nice little tablet for those that can't afford a tablet. (Me.)

So far, I've added a lot of free Kindle books, apps, my digital editions of some magazines, some music and even watched some movies.  It is a little strange to go from Apple World with my iPhone and past iPods to an Android-based device.  I keep looking for my iPhone apps.  But I am enjoying the learning curve.  And so far I see nothing about it that makes me realize it was a refurbished model.

So I just have to now focus on making this girl prettier.  Too bad they don't come in pink, huh?

The Many Adventures of Seymour and Angie

I want to introduce you to some new friends.

Please meet Seymour and Angie.

They are from Iowa.  Iowa is almost as good as Georgia.  Or so I'm told.

My friend, we'll call her Rae, lives in Iowa.  She does like corn.  She also seems to like some blue bulldog which I don't really understand.  I mean, here in Georgia, we all LOVE our Bulldogs.  But we don't see many of them that are blue.  Unless they are dead. And that's just not attractive.  Anyhoo...

Rae recently sent me a care package for my birthday from Iowa.  Sadly, it contained no corn and thankfully no blue bulldogs.

But what it did contain was two lovely little piggies.  Seymour and Angie.

They are Good Luck Pigs.  Yeah, I never heard of Good Luck Pigs before either, but hey, I'm willing to accept all the good luck I can find.  They came with this little card that read:

Good Luck Pig!
In Germany when someone is lucky it is customary to say
"Ich Habe Schwein Gehabt which means "I have had pig".

This tradition dates back to hard times when if you had a pig to feed your family
you were considered fortunate.

This good luck pig bestows good fortune and luck wherever he goes.  Find a special place
for him in your home and he will bring you good luck and success!

Isn't that sweet?

The names "Seymour" and "Angie" came from stories both Rae and I have of what we might have been called if other people in our lives had been allowed to name us or if we had been born at different times.  Rae was to be Seymour and I was to be Angie.  I'm glad we both got the real names we are stuck with though.  She doesn't look much like a Seymour.

So since these two sweet little piggies have come to live with us, I thought it might be fun to try and have some adventures with them.  And I'm pretty much running out of writing material for this blog so you all get pigs now.  It's a recession, people.  I'm doing the best I can here.

One morning recently as Bean and I were getting ready for the day, I noticed Seymour and Angie had wandered off.  It took us awhile to track them down but we finally did.  They were pretty well hidden.  Can you see them?

They seem to like to accessorize.

I will try to keep you all updated on their adventures as they get used to living in Georgia and start to wander out and about.  They are very friendly and love to make new friends.  Who knows where they'll wind up.

Mission Accomplished! Almost.

You've all been graciously following along in my quest to earn a free Kindle Fire.

Kindle Fire: upright, angled view

Well the mission is now complete.

But I didn't get it for free.

It cost me $4.00

Order Summary

Items:$139.00
Shipping & Handling:$0.00

Total Before Tax:$139.00
Estimated Tax To Be Collected:$0.00
Total:$139.00
Gift Certificate/Card:-$135.00

Order Total: $4.00

My grand Iowa friend, whom you'll hear more about in a later post, sent me a link this morning to a Gold Box sale on Amazon for refurbished Kindle Fires for $139.  I wasn't sure about purchasing a refurbished model because I have no experience with anything refurbished.  But my friend has had positive experiences and I spent some time reading other buyer's comments and decided to give it a chance.

I only had $135 in actual credits since I'm still waiting on my Swagbucks certificate to show up but since the deal is likely to sell out quickly, I went ahead and spent $4.00 to get the Fire.  I could have waited but I know if I did, the deal would be gone.  I think paying $4.00 for a Kindle Fire is acceptable and much better than spending the total $199.

So mission accomplished but just not completely free.  Now I can use my Swagbucks certificate when it gets here to get a cover.  I can't wait to receive the Fire in the mail and will definitely share pictures with you.
