A look back at my little pumpkin

Hello Halloween Kitty

Hubz asked Bean what she wanted him to carve on her pumpkin. Her first response was "scary monster."  Hubz was excited by this.

He had me go online to find scary monster pumpkin patterns. Everything I showed Bean was "too scar-eee".

I kept scrolling through a website clicking on "next", "next", "next" when up pops a Hello Kitty pattern.

You would have thought The Great Pumpkin showed up at our house.

"Hello Kitteeee! Hello Kitteeee!!! Mommy, I want a Hello Kitteee plumpkin!!!"

Hubz moaned and groaned. "What happened to scary monsters, Bean? Hello Kitty isn't scary or cool."

"I wanna Hello Kitteee one, Daddy."

Pumpkin matching game

I found this pumpkin matching game printable at Little Gene Grean Bean and used it to make Bean a matching game.

This printable allows you to create your own pumpkins so I spent a lunch hour drawing and coloring. It was pretty fun. I think the faces turned out really cute.

I did not have any chipboard pieces or a laminating machine so I decided to use playing cards. I traced the playing card onto some scrapbook paper and cut them out.

Then I "snailed" and mod podged the scrapbook paper and the cut out pumpkin shapes onto the cards. They would be better if I could get them laminated. In lieu of a laminator, I might just apply some packing tape all around them. It's not high class craftiness but it'll do.

Bean loves playing with her "punkin cards". She's able to match them up quite well.

Halloween Beanism

I have a craft project or two to share with you all but my camera is not cooperating with me. Hopefully, I'll get them posted later tonight.

I wanted to share a funny Halloween "Bean-ism" with you all. This morning on the way to preschool, I tried to teach Bean the old "smell my feet" trick-or-treat song we used to sing as kids. Bean wasn't going for it.

Me: Okay, repeat after me. "Trick or treat."

Bean: Trick or tweet.

Me: "Smell my feet."

Bean: ...Smell my feet.

Me: "Give me something good to eat."

Bean: Give me someting good to eat.

(Pause)

Bean: People don't smell my feet. Ugh!

Me: Bean, that's just a little sing-songy thing you say at Halloween.

Bean: 'Dem people don't smell my feet.

Okay, fine. You got me. I guess it is weird telling people to smell your feet and then wanting them to give you candy. I'll just let everyone know right now...no one has to smell my feet in order to give me candy. I'm candy easy.

Water table turned sand box

A few months ago I posted here about making a water table for Bean. We have now converted the water table into a sand box. The directions aren't too complicated.

Here they are:

Step 1 - remove water.

Step 2 - pour in sand.

Voila! You now have a DIY sand box where your toddler can enjoy hours of fun. Okay, at least it will give you a few minutes worth of play.

Please take no notice of my half-painted bench.  I accidentally let the paint dry out.
