It's soooo hard to believe my little baby is already 9 months old! I still think of her as a little squirmy human "bean" fresh from the hospital. Soon we will be celebrating her first birthday! Gosh, I need to stop talking about that or I will start crying! LOL
Bean just had her 9 month checkup and she is doing great. She's still a little small weight wise but everything else checked out fine. And the best part - no shots at this visit! Woohoo! She is crawling super fast, won't stay still for a minute and laughing at me whenever I say "no no". She hasn't said any words yet but she does babble. She also likes to hum and loves to growl! That one is pretty funny to hear. I am just so grateful that she is growing strong and that she is healthy.
Thank you, God!

My first attempt at making baby food
I wanted to see if I could do a decent job at making Bean's food myself. I was very surprised that it turned out so well. It was very easy. And trust me, I wouldn't tell you that if it wasn't because I hate to cook most of the time myself.
So far I have made butternut squash (tastes just like Gerber's), green peas (Bean won't eat the Gerber's but she'll eat mine), lima beans (haven't tried this one on her yet), and I have done up some green beans but need to go and puree them.
I baked the butternut squash and then scooped it out and pureed it. The rest, I bought frozen and cooked them (save the water you cook them in to use to thin out the puree). I am hoping to get some more fresh veggies this weekend and do them.
I don't have any ice cube trays yet to put the purees in to freeze so I have been using a cookie sheet. I put down wax paper and then spoon one tablespoon of the purees onto the wax paper at a time and then put the whole thing in the freezer. After freezing, I pull up the little round circles and put them in a freezer bag and label it. I label it when to throw out (3 months). To me that was easier to keep track of.
if you're thinking of trying your hand at making your own baby food, it's very easy and I think you'll find that you can get a batch done in no time. Good luck.

On Father's Day, I'll miss my own Daddy
My Dad has been gone for several years now but I still miss him daily. I was always "Daddy's Little Girl". My Dad could do no wrong. I look like my Dad. Well, my features are more like his. I have his blue eyes, his coloring - hair, skin tone, and nose. He was my hero and always will be.
One great memory I have of my Daddy is the one and only time my Mom left him to babysit me while she went somewhere with my Granny. Daddy and I were in the house most of the day. He was watching TV and I was playing with my dolls. He fell asleep in his recliner and I decided that one of my dolls needed a haircut. So off to find the scissors, I went. I was probably 6 or 7 then. Not really old enough to use my Mom's "good scissors" by myself. But that fact wasn't gonna stop me. All I knew was that Sabrina, my doll, needed a haircut and I was gonna give her one.
So I drug a kitchen chair over to the buffet that we had in the kitchen and where my Mom kept the scissors and dug them out of the top drawer. Since my Daddy was asleep in his chair, I didn't want to bother him with having to get them for me. I took the scissors and Sabrina and sat in the living room floor behind my Daddy's chair. I used to sit in the same place and play for hours. I liked sitting there because I was close to my Daddy and I was next to the bookshelf where I had all my books and some toys.
So I cut off Sabrina's long beautiful blonde hair and made her look soooo bu-ti-ful!!!! When I was done with my masterpiece of a haircut, Sabrina looked like Dorothy Hamil or Mary Lou Retton. She was so cute and let me tell you...for a 6 year old to be doing the cutting, the girl looked FIERCE!!!!
I had finished the haircut and just sat there playing with Sabrina and some other toys and telling Sabrina over and over how pretty she looked. I was gonna ask my Daddy if he thought so, too, but he was still asleep. I heard my Mom come in the door and walk in the living room. Then I heard "Junior! What happened here???" really loudly, like only a mother can do. My poor Dad was still asleep in the chair and jumped up asking her what she was talking about.
She had come home to find blonde hair strewn all over the floor behind my Daddy's chair and then, as she got closer, she saw me sitting in the middle of it with her good scissors right next to me. I remember looking up at both of them and saying "Look, doesn't Sabrina look pretty??? She needed a haircut and I did it all by myself." I said, "Mommy, I even layered it."
After my Mom got through with me, she set her sights on my Dad. I really think my Dad got the worst of it that day. And from then on out, he was never asked to watch me again. Poor Daddy.

Happy Father's Day to my Husband.
Well, this year will be my husband's first Father's Day! (That we know of...he he he) How are we celebrating? Well, he's working. Poor baby. But we will try to do our Father's Day celebrating on Saturday instead. I am still working on his present and hopefully will have it done next week. Hopefully he will like it.
I have seen my husband really blossom as a father over the past couple of weeks. Granted, he has been a great daddy since Bean was born. I had to have an emergency c-section and was pretty much out of it for the first 24 hours of her life, so Daddy jumped right in and took great care of her, fed her, changed her diapers, and watched over her. I was actually a little jealous of the bond they seemed to have formed while we were all in the hospital. But then, after we came home and got back to "real life", it seemed that he wasn't really excited about being a Dad. He didn't really have a lot to do with our baby. I will say that I probably didn't help because I thought that I had to be SuperMom and do everything or that it all had to be done my way. So I might have unknowingly pushed him out of the way during those days. And when I asked him about his lack of interest, he would tell me that he never really had much to do with any babies (and he'd been around plenty) until they got a little bigger and would interact with him more.
But for the past couple of weeks, he's surprised me on more than one occassion. He has swooped her up and taken care of her while I did other things, (he would always do this but it would usually only last for about 5 minutes), he has introduced her to the Georgia Bulldogs Womens Softball and Mens Baseball teams, and he has actually gotten her to sleep on his own several nights while I stayed up.
He is coming into his own with our little baby and I am very proud of him. I think he's gonna make a great daddy and I'm glad I get to watch the whole thing.
Happy Father's Day, Baby! AILY

Bean's New Trick!
Bean’s New Trick!
Little Bean is learning so much so fast! I can’t believe she is already 4 1/2 months old! Pretty soon we’ll be planning that first birthday trip to Chuck E. Cheese. NOT!!!!
But I thought I’d pass along a Bean update. She has learned a new trick! She is now sticking out her tongue and doing raspberries. She thinks she is the coolest Bean of all now and she can entertain herself with this trick. I will try to update with a picture of her sticking her tongue out. By the way, if you meet Bean and she smiles and sticks her tongue out, remember...she’s not trying to be fresh, this is her way of saying "I think you might be cool." She doesn’t know how to shake hands yet so this is her way of saying ‘hi’. And she loves it if you stick your tongue back out at her.
I don’t get it but whatever tickles her pickle!

Change a Baby Bottle and Suddenly, You're a Bad Parent!
This is my Blog Debut!!!
Hi all! Welcome to my blog debut! Pull up a fruity drink and enjoy the party.
I'm AprilFae and I am a happily married, new mommy. My husband and I are the proud new parents to a 4 month-old beautiful baby daughter who we will call Bean. We also are mommy and daddy to 3 crazy doggies and 2 truly insane kitties.
I have a couple of sites that I try to maintain in between trying to maintain my daughter, husband, house and myself. The first site is called Pinkie's Shoppe. I have great plans in my mind for this site but right now, it is on the back burner for a short time. I am thinking of revamping it and selling jewelry on it. But we'll see. I have all of these great ideas swimming around in my head but actually finding the time AND the funds to make them a reality is not always so easy. My other site is a launching pad to all most of my affiliate links to other companies. I am a representative for each one of these companies and you can shop directly on the company websites. This site is called PinkieFae Shopping.
With this blog, I hope to share with you snapshots of my life and info on all my great companies. As always, if you have any questions about any of my companies, please feel free to email me.

My very own blog!!!
Hi everyone! I am new to blogging and this is my first ever blog. I am about to celebrate my first ever Mother's Day! Woo hoo!!! It was a LONG time coming and I am so grateful to God that I have my baby girl and that she is healthy. I hope I get something really corny for my first Mother's Day but know I'll be lucky to get a card from my husband. LOL He isn't a Hallmark fan and hates to give cards so I'm not holding my breath.
I want to wish all the other mommies out there - whether they are moms to 2 legged, 4 legged or no legged babies, it doesn't matter. If someone depends on you or if someone is your "baby", then you are a mommy and I hope you take a few minutes on Sunday to relax, realize what you have in your life and thank God for it.
Happy Mother's Day!!!!!

About Me!
My name is Pinkie. Well, no, that's really not my name but that's my "bloggin' handle". I decided to start a blog because everyone was doing it. No...that's not true either.
I knew I would be horrible at keeping up my daughter's baby book. I am always sitting in front of a computer, (and I have the derriere to prove it), so I thought the best baby book I could do for her would be a blog. So there you have it.
Where did "Pinkie and the Bean" come from? I've been asked if it was a take off on Pinky and the Brain. To be honest, I had never heard of Pinky and the Brain until people started asking me that question. So I can safety tell you all that those cartooneys had no influence here. First, I didn't want to just throw our real names out there. I have a lot of fears and one of them is internet stalking. So I knew I had to come up with nicknames for us all. Everyone in my personal life that gets mentioned here on my blog gets a nickname or bloggin' handle as I like to call them. I picked Pinkie for me because well, it's not that hard...I like everything pink. Pink is my "signature color". (That is stolen from Steel Magnolias. Please don't sue me, Julia!) And when I first found out I was pregnant, I got tired of calling the baby "it", and the technical terms are all just too cold. No one wants to say "fetus" all day long. So I started calling her "Bean". In fact, we didn't officially decide on a name for Bean until she was about 12 hours old.
If you need a rundown on the characters found here on this blog, here ya go:
Pinkie - your beautiful, talented, witty author :)
Bean - the star of the show
Hubz - the co-producer
Giggles - Hubz' mother, my mother-in-law, and one of Bean's nannies
The Accomplice - Hubz' aunt, Giggles' sister, and the second of Bean's two nannies
The Grump - my dear, sweet, sunshiney father-in-law
BIL 1 - Hubz' oldest brother
BIL 2 - Hubz' next oldest brother
There are a couple more but I will have to add them later.
