Football practice

We had our holiday pictures made yesterday. We did the whole “sitting in front of the tree” pictures but we also did a casual photo, too. Since Hubz is a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan, and Bean has a lot of Bulldogs crap clothing, I thought he would appreciate some pictures of his “Lil Bulldog”. I mean the kid can already see a picture of a bulldog, any bulldog, and say “Uga”, and when she sees people playing football on television, she yells out “Ball! Ball!”.

So I took her tutu from her Halloween costume and paired it with a Bulldogs hoodie. I think the outfit was very cute. But let me just say, Bean was not interested in having her picture taken at all. Granted, she hasn’t been feeling well all weekend and she just wanted to be held. I would have to put her down on the canvas and then jump out of the way so the photographer could try and snap some pictures before Bean ran right back to me. It was exhausting!

I sure hope she grows out of this “running all over the place and not listening to anything she’s told” phase by next year cause if she pulls this stuff again, I will duct tape her feet to the floor. I’ll do it. Holiday pictures are serious business!!

My mind goes "wheee"!

I'll probably never be one of those big, successful bloggers.  Oops, maybe I shouldn't write that cause then that's what I'm putting out there in the universe so it might come true.  What?  Nevermind.

Why won't I be successful?  One, and I think I've probably mentioned this before, I'm lazy.  We don't have to go into that in much detail now but yep, it's true.  But I think my second reason is the one that is doing the most damage.  I don't know what to write about.  I get these inspirations and I put out a really great (in my opinion) blog post and then I feel completely, utterly spent.  It takes me days to come up with another inspiration.

I've read successful blogs and most of them will tell you that you should schedule your posts.  Get a calendar, write down a subject on a date, and then write it out and send it.  I've done this.  But for me what usually happens is I'll look at my posting calendar, stare at it for a minute or two, then say "uh huhhhhh, let me go play a few minutes of Farmville and I'll come back to this."

I evidently get lost on my farm and can't find my way back.  My mind just goes "wheeee" and nothing gets done.  Why?

Does this happen to any of you other bloggers?  Do you just give yourself a mean ole reprimand and make yourself sit down and write?  Maybe I need to put myself on restriction.  How will I survive though?  All my Farmville crops will wither and die!

Wordless Wednesday - Debating the news

This week has gotten away from me.  Can't believe it's already Wednesday.

I just love the expression in this picture.  (Whoops!  I used words in my Wordless Wednesday!!!)

Boo Night and Buggin' out.

We had a great Boo Night (Halloween) on Saturday.  We got to see a lot of family and friends and best of all, Bean got candy!!!!

She did not have any love in her heart for our cameras though.  She would not cooperate and stand still at all.  This will come out of her allowance one day, if I remember.  I'll say to her "remember back on your 2nd Halloween when you wouldn't be still long enough for me to get a super cute picture of you?"  She'll say "no", of course.  And then I'll say, "Well, I do so I'm keeping this $5.  Check ya next time."

Okay, that will probably only work in my mind but you get the idea.

Here's some wonderful, beautiful, non-looking-at-the-camera pictures for you to enjoy.  Bean was a ladybug.  I made the shirt myself, at the cost of the tips of two of my fingers - the burns are healing nicely, thanks for asking.  I don't have a sewing machine so I have to stick to the iron and glue guns and I definitely stuck to the glue gun that night.  I got the rest of her costume from etsy.com.  (Shout outs - ladybug costume from Paisley and Posies and the leg warmers from Crawler Covers.)

I miss the old Halloween.

It's almost time to dress the kiddies up in their Halloween costumes, get their treat bags ready, teach them to say "Trick or Treat", and take them to the mall.

What?  Huh?  The mall?  What for?  Are we eating there before we go trick or treating????  I'm confused.

When I was a child, most of the costumes I ever had consisted of a plastic mask that was secured to your head with a rubber band, a highly flammable plastic cape or dress depending on what you were gonna be, and a round orange plastic pumpkin to store all your loot in.  The plastic mask had 2 eye holes, 2 small nostril holes and a little slit in the mouth.  Have you ever gotten your tongue stuck in one of those masks?  Anyone?  Please tell me I wasn't the only one with a shredded tongue from one of those things.  And God help you if that rubber band got snapped against your head somehow.  You saw stars for quite awhile after that.

For the actual trick or treating, we were let loose in a neighborhood and got to go to people's actual houses.  And we ate the candy in the back seat of the car on the way home with no worries of it being messed with in some way.  And please don't forget that wonderful stomach ache later on that night.

Those were the days.

I feel sorry for kids nowadays.  Granted, I'm sure there are still neighborhoods around that you can trick or treat in.  I am hoping to go to one of those this year with Bean.  But for a while now, the trend has been to take the kids to a mall or a store and let them trick or treat there because "it's safer".  Our town also used to have an amazing Halloween carnival at the elementary school.  I don't even think it's still called a "Halloween Carnival".  I think to be politically correct, they've changed the name of it to Fall Festival or Harvest Celebration, or some stupid crap like that.  Some churches have gotten into the act, too, and started their own Fall Festivals to compete against Halloween since it's the devil's day.  You know, I dressed up in plenty of costumes and celebrated plenty of Halloweens, and ate plenty candy and I'm pretty sure I'm still a Christian.  I don't have any worries there.  I don't think I'm going to hell because I dressed up as Plastic Princess Leia one year.  I just think it's sad that kids can't enjoy Halloween like we used to.  You have to worry about people doing things to the candy that they give out.  You have to worry about crime and people way scarier than any boogeyman we ever made up stories about.

It's just sad.  Now, I will admit that I do not miss those costumes.  But I do miss the free spirit (no pun intended) of the old Halloweens.  It's just a shame that this world has changed so much that our kids probably will never know how much fun Halloween used to be.
